I am a Principal Engineer in Seattle building and operating critical AWS infrastructure. My work spans distributed systems, HTTP load balancing, web application security, DDoS detection and mitigation, and operational reliability.
I work hands-on across engineering organizations to resolve complex customer and internal issues, lead incident response, improve system resilience, and turn operational lessons into durable platform improvements.
I work on HTTP request-based load balancing with Application Load Balancer (ALB), TCP and UDP connection-based load balancing with Network Load Balancer (NLB), S3's specialized load balancing systems, TLS, and Classic Load Balancer (CLB). My work includes security analysis and critical security improvements, high availability, operational excellence, customer issue resolution, incident management, and root cause analysis. I also learn from customer needs, develop new product features with my team, and launch them to AWS customers. See below.
I work on DDoS detection, mitigation, and response systems, including Shield Advanced and Shield Response, with a focus on calm, effective issue resolution during high-stakes events.
I work on web application security systems that help customers protect applications and services at the edge of their AWS architectures.
Public examples of Application Load Balancer and related security work where I served as Principal Engineer include:
