Last month we shipped SuperSplat Editor 3.0, rebuilt from the ground up on WebGPU. This time most of the work went into SuperSplat itself. We wanted to make it easier to discover great splats and the people who make them, so you can now follow creators and get notifications when people respond to your work, and the home page and search have been redesigned around how people actually look for splats. The XR side of the viewer got a big upgrade along the way too: step into a scene in VR or AR and grab it with both hands.

In this post, we'll explain what Web Lenses are, show off four of the first PlayCanvas games on Snapchat and walk you through building and publishing your own.

Editor 2.35 is out, and it changes the first page you see. playcanvas.com/editor is now a projects home of its own, and the project management you used to do on the playcanvas.com projects page has moved into it: search, stars, forks, transfers, project settings, dev logs, teams, organizations and new projects.

The same page is also where an AI agent can now connect over MCP, before any project is open. From there it can list, create, rename and open your projects.

Editor 2.34 is out, two weeks after 2.32, and it is built around Engine 2.23. The headline is a new Inspector launch option: tick one box and your launched app comes up with a full debug panel docked beside it, where you can pause it, step it a frame at a time, pick entities straight out of the viewport and draw the physics world.

Alongside it: rigidbodies get a per-body Gravity Scale, Gaussian splats get a new Splat Budget Mode and their LOD distances back, particles can opt out of fog and tonemapping, and, from 2.33, you can throw away everything since your last checkpoint with Discard All.

Welcome to the seventh edition of Developer Spotlight, a series of blog articles where we talk to developers about how they use PlayCanvas and showcase the fantastic work they are doing on the web.

Today, we are excited to be joined by Massimo and Mariem from Solaya, a French deeptech startup that turns a short iPhone video into a photorealistic 3D digital twin, ready for the web in under an hour. Solaya renders its Gaussian splats with the PlayCanvas Engine, and brands such as Karl Lagerfeld and Rimowa already use it for their e-commerce content.

Editor 2.32 is out, and it leads with something that has been a long time coming: the Joint component. Hinges, sliders, ball joints, springs and breakable welds are now things you configure in the inspector rather than assemble from a script.

There is more to it than that. Materials get ray-marched parallax occlusion, the render component gets per-cascade shadow control, text elements can finally justify, and the Gaussian splat LOD controls have been reworked.

This is also the first of what we intend to make a regular thing. Plenty has shipped in the Editor over the past year without ever being written up, so from here on we will be posting about Editor releases far more often — shorter posts, closer to the release, instead of waiting for one big enough to justify the effort.

Last month we shipped the Publishing API, opening superspl.at up to the wider splat ecosystem. Today is a bigger day. SuperSplat Editor 3.0 is here — the biggest release since 2.0 — and the headline is the editor itself, rebuilt from the ground up on WebGPU. It loads far larger scenes in a fraction of the memory, stays responsive when they get heavy, and comes with a new way to select, color grading for selections and a brand new Appearance panel.

Last month we shipped Vibe Code Splat Apps, 360° Video and splat-transform 3.0 — everything you need to turn a splat into a real, shippable app. Today we're opening SuperSplat up to the rest of the ecosystem. A new publishing API lets any capture app, scanner or training pipeline upload straight to superspl.at, and three launch partners are live with it today: Teleport by Varjo, XGRIDS LCC Studio and LichtFeld Studio. If you build splat software, you can ship the same thing.
