Issue with repository configuration in sources.list.d #415

Open

Description

@E-World333

There is an issue with the repository configuration file located in /etc/apt/sources.lis.d/ . This prevent the system from correctly fetching updates after the last upgrade of the program.

I have three machines with Kubuntu 24.04 and I make general upgrade using the terminal, classic "sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade", I also run another "sudo apt update" command after applying the upgrade and this time an error occurred after doing that, the list file for MS Edge got changed to chrome repo for some reason, the screenshots shared here are from my third machine.

This is the list file of MS Edge before upgrading.

And this is the list file after upgrading.

This can be fixed by manually changing the value back to the right repo url, but I'm pretty sure this should not happen.

    @nickurak

    If it's anything like the RPM-based logic, there's a daily cron job that resets this -- https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftEdge/comments/1r4rph8/comment/o60ewep/

    @hufhend

    I would also like to request that this be fixed.
    I am installing Microsoft Edge via Ansible, and it is really causing problems:

    Incidentally, this is not the first time I have had problems with Microsoft repositories and keys, so it would be nice if you could pay more attention to this.
    I'm also surprised how the browser managed to change the contents of a file that is writable only by the root user.
