Currently just the datastore API. Making it work with the Firebase API would require a pretty massive effort. It's not out of the question for the future but at the moment there is nothing specific planned. Google doesn't seem to be making any noises (at least not to me) about deprecating the datastore API.
This could probably be transferred to a discussion.
Having worked a lot with Firebase, my suggestion? Don't use it.
Postgres is almost always the best answer for database loads and a managed Cloud SQL postgres is dirt cheap and scales up with usage. Cheapest is less than $10/month.
How to talk to it? Cloud Functions. Need realtime? Websockets on Cloud Run + Memorystore.
Going this route leaves you with the ability to migrate to any other service with fairly low development cost as well. I hate being tied to a cloud provider.
I was unable to find a definitive answer to this anywhere...
Will Objectify work with the new Firebase API or only via the Datastore "legacy" API to the same?
