Role change request

This issue is used to request role changes within the USWDS Open Source Community, including promotions from Contributor to Maintainer or transitions to Alumni status. Please fill out this issue to file the request AND then make a pull request to update the COMMUNITY.md file to list yourself in the appropriate section. You can omit sections that don't apply to your request, but be sure to fill out Justification and Supporting evidence for any promotion requests.

Requirements for promotions to USWDS Community Contributor:

• Must be actively contributing to USWDS for at least 6 months

Requirements for promotions to USWDS Community Maintainer:

• Must be actively contributing to USWDS repo(s) for at least 6 months:
  • Authored 2 merged PRs
  • Reviewed 2 PRs
  • Resolved 2 issues

Requirements for demotions:

• Voluntary step down request
• Inactive for extended period (6 months)
• Unable to fulfill current role responsibilities
• Involuntary removal/demotion

USWDS role responsibilities acknowledgment

USWDS Contributor role:

As a USWDS Contributor, I acknowledge that I am responsible for:

• Reporting and resolving USWDS issues
• Submitting and reviewing USWDS PRs
• Contributing to USWDS documentation
• Participating in USWDS community discussions
• Answering questions from other community members
• Testing releases and submitting reviews
• Running or helping to run USWDS-related events
• Maintaining USWDS repositories and community infrastructure

USWDS Maintainer Role:

As a USWDS Maintainer, I acknowledge that I am responsible for:

• Reviewing a minimum of 4 USWDS PRs per 3 month cycle
• Contributing at least 2 USWDS PRs per 3 month cycle
• Exercising judgment for the good of the USWDS product and repository, independent of any employer, friends, or team, in line with repository GOVERNANCE.
• Taking responsibility for a key USWDS repository management area as indicated in CODEOWNERS.md
• Writing and refactoring submitted PRs
• Participating in USWDS Maintainer activities
• Proposing contributions to strategy and policy of the product and repositories
• Participating in, and leading, USWDS community discussions
• Mentoring new Contributors
• Mentoring other Maintainers

USWDS Alumni Role:

As USWDS Alumni, I acknowledge that I am:

• No longer responsible for actively contributing to the repository :)
