[BUG] Google Drive sync can't be authorized on Edge for Android: Couldn't create a browser window #2701

1. Install Violentmonkey in Edge for Android. It isn't in Edge for Android's built-in extension list, so open the Edge Add-ons page in Edge on the phone and tap Get.
2. Open Violentmonkey → Settings → Sync, and choose Google Drive.
3. Press Authorize.

Problem:

Authorization always fails with:

Initializing error! Couldn't create a browser window to display an authorization page.

Edge for Android exposes chrome.identity.launchWebAuthFlow but can't open its auth window. This is a known Edge bug: microsoft/MicrosoftEdge-Extensions#364, open since Aug 2025. Calling launchWebAuthFlow with a dummy URL from the service worker fails the same way. The MV3 build has no other auth path, so sync can't be set up on Edge for Android.

So far I've only seen this with Google Drive. Dropbox and OneDrive use the same code path, so they're likely affected too, but I haven't tested them.

Related: when the settings page opens, Authorize and the other sync buttons are usually disabled with no error or explanation, and sync status stays at 1 (idle). Authorize sometimes becomes enabled after waiting a long time.
