Next-Generation Materials for Sustainable Development - In collaboration with ICASM 2025

Participating journal: Emergent Materials

This Special Issue, organized in partnership with ICASM 2025, focuses on the transformative potential of next-generation materials in driving sustainability across key sectors including energy, environment, healthcare, and engineering. In alignment with Qatar University’s commitment to advancing research for sustainable development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the issue aims to showcase cutting-edge innovations that translate scientific breakthroughs into practical, eco-conscious solutions.

We welcome cross-disciplinary contributions that foster collaboration among researchers in materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering, and computational sciences. Submissions that highlight technological advancements while promoting environmental responsibility are highly encouraged.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Recyclable, biodegradable, and bio-based materials

• Nanomaterials and quantum dots

• Biomass-derived carbons

• Energy storage and conversion devices

• Water treatment membranes and sustainable solutions

• Construction composites and geopolymers

• Antimicrobial, self-healing, and corrosion-resistant coatings

• Biomedical packaging and implantable materials

• Additive manufacturing (3D/4D printing)

• Machine learning and AI-driven materials modeling

Submissions are open to ICASM 2025 participants and invited authors. All manuscripts will undergo rigorous peer review to ensure high scientific quality and relevance.
