Cascading Geohazards

Participating journal: Geoenvironmental Disasters

This topical collection on cascading geohazards explores the complex sequences where a primary geological event triggers a chain of secondary and tertiary disasters. This special issue aims to explore the fundamental mechanisms and innovative prevention strategies for cascading geohazards including rockfalls, landslides, and landslide dams under the pressures of environmental change, ultimately advancing the theoretical and technical frontiers of global disaster mitigation. In our increasingly extreme climate environment, understanding these interconnected events is vital for moving beyond traditional, single-hazard risk assessments toward a more holistic view of disaster science.
