18 Celebrities Who Admitted They Can’t (Or Refuse) To Do The Most “Basic” Everyday Things, And I Fear Some Of These Confessions Are Beyond Out Of Touch

“I mean, I would not know how to make coffee. Sort of boil an egg; maybe I could figure that one out.”

Celebrities obviously live verrrrry different lives from the rest of us, but some of them are so used to having everything done for them that they don't even know how to do the most basic things. And others have some pretty ridiculous ways of avoiding everyday responsibilities altogether. So, here are 18 celebrities whose out-of-touch confessions are genuinely wild...

    1. In a 2022 episode of The Kardashians, Kendall Jenner went viral for not knowing how to properly cut a cucumber. She was at Kris Jenner's house making herself a snack when Kris offered to have the family's chef do it for her. Kendall insisted she could handle it herself, saying, "It's pretty easy." But then she started holding the cucumber in the strangest position, pinching it with her fingers and even crossing her arms over each other while trying to slice it. She then said, "I'm definitely not a good cutter, so don't zoom in on me."

Kris eventually asked someone to call the chef over, but Kendall insisted she was fine. The clip rightfully blew up, and Kendall later defended herself, saying, "Let me just say I successfully cut 'The Cucumber.'"

    2. Macaulay Culkin found so much success, fame, and money at an early age that he never had to learn how to do his own laundry or drive a car. During a 2025 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, his partner Brenda Song said, "Being the most famous child actor in the world, he lived and grew up in hotels. He had just never really done laundry." Brenda said she was "shooketh" when she found out and ended up teaching him herself.

And it doesn't end there. Brenda explained that Macaulay still didn't know how to drive at 44, so she tried to teach him in their neighborhood. "I took him out to drive in our neighborhood — I was terrified," she admitted, adding that she quickly realized a professional driving instructor would be a better idea.

    3. Back in 2013, when Selena Gomez was just 20 years old, she asked the paparazzi to move her car for her after she parked on the wrong side of a gas pump. She'd pulled into a gas station in her BMW SUV, but when she got out to fill up, she realized the hose couldn't reach her gas tank. Selena then turned to the photographers who'd been following her and asked, "Will one of you fix my car for me?" And one of them actually got behind the wheel and repositioned her car. While he was doing it, Selena jokingly told another photographer, "A day in the life," before thanking the man who'd helped her. Lowkey an iconic moment in herstory.

    4. In May 2026, a clip of Millie Bobby Brown talking about her husband, Jake Bongiovi, went viral, with people calling him spoiled and privileged over his vacation habits. For context, Jake is the son of Jon Bon Jovi, while Millie has previously talked about growing up with little money. During a 2025 interview, Millie said, "My husband. He doesn't pack any clothes, just ever." She explained that she'll show up with a huge suitcase while Jake brings practically nothing except his phone and laptop, and usually forgets his charger, too.

According to Millie, he'll then complain about having nothing to wear, and when she reminds him he didn't pack anything, he'll suggest going shopping instead. And she shares that's why he doesn't pack in the first place. During a separate interview, Millie also talked about how Jake will suggest Prada when she needs new socks, while she'd rather just go to Target. She said she still thinks carefully about expensive purchases and sometimes even calls her parents before buying something, which is very different from her husband.

    5. Cardi B admitted during a 2018 episode of Carpool Karaoke that she owned FIVE luxury cars despite not knowing how to drive. Her collection included a Lamborghini Aventador, a Lamborghini Urus, a Bentley Bentayga, a Mercedes-Maybach, and a Chevrolet Suburban. When James Corden asked why she needed so many cars if she couldn't drive them, Cardi replied, "To take pictures with." She also insisted that taking pictures with cars she didn't own would make her an impostor.

James then decided to give her a driving lesson, which went about as well as you'd expect... Cardi struggled to steer around the course and ended up knocking over several traffic cones.

    6. Channing Tatum hated doing laundry so much that he once spent an entire year buying brand-new white T-shirts instead of washing his clothes. During a 2024 episode of GQ's 10 Essentials, the actor admitted that he hated laundry more than he could possibly express. He even had a name for that period of his life: "The Year of the Fresh White Tee." Apparently, he'd buy plain white shirts, wear them a couple of times, and then just buy more instead of washing them. And mind you, this happened years before he even became a major Hollywood star. He remembered telling himself, "I can get, like, two wears out of this a week. This is gonna be good."

    7. During a 2018 interview, Oprah Winfrey admitted that she didn't even know how to pump her own gas. She was sitting with Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling when the three were asked which everyday tasks they actually did themselves. When the topic of pumping gas came up, Oprah said, "I gotta just say, I wouldn't know what to do." She also admitted that she didn't usually do her own grocery shopping or drive herself around Los Angeles and New York.

    8. During a 2026 episode of Khloé Kardashian's Khloé in Wonder Land podcast, Kim Kardashian admitted that she hadn't gone grocery shopping in about six years. "I feel like we went to Erewhon for our show six years ago or something, but before that, like, maybe 12 years." Kim eventually said, "it's probably been, like, 15 years" since she'd regularly gone grocery shopping. But apparently, she actually misses it.

In fact, Kim previously said that she wanted to rent out Ralphs for her birthday so she could push her children around in a shopping cart, and she brought up wanting the store closed again on Khloé's podcast. She said, "I've been begging Ralphs to close so I can roam through." To be fair, she has admitted that it was probably "bratty and unrelatable."

    9. During a 2024 episode of her Miss Me? podcast, Lily Allen admitted, "I don't know how to use a washing machine." And yes, she was 39 years old. She said she was terrified of accidentally shrinking her clothes or turning everything the wrong color, so she just avoided doing the laundry altogether. Instead, her then-husband David Harbour and her children handled it. She even mentioned that her daughter Ethel was particularly good at doing laundry.

    10. Back in 2015, when Kylie Jenner was just 17 years old and getting ready to move into her first house, her sisters Kim and Khloé started questioning whether she actually knew how to take care of herself. In an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim and Khloé asked her about basic household chores like laundry and ironing, and Kylie didn't really have any answers...

Her sisters were rightfully concerned about her moving out without knowing how to handle everyday household responsibilities, especially since she'd grown up with so much help around the house.

    11. Kaia Gerber admitted in a 2021 interview that she'd been so sheltered as a young model that she didn't even know how to check herself into a hotel. "My driver had to check me into my hotel room — I couldn't even do it on my own," she said while discussing how little real-life experience she'd had when she started traveling for work.

And in her 2026 Vogue cover interview, Kaia recalled moving into her own New York City apartment at just 17 years old and being too proud to call her mom, Cindy Crawford, for help when she couldn't figure out how to turn on the dishwasher.

    12. Kathy Griffin once said that Cher didn't know how to order a pizza when the two were hanging out at her house. According to Kathy, she suggested ordering pizza while they were watching TV, but Cher responded, "How do you order a pizza? I'm Cher!" And apparently, Kathy wasn't much better, because she also joked that she hadn't ordered her own pizza in years. In the end, Kathy said her assistant had to handle the order. 😭

    13. Christopher Nolan has directed several iconic and intricate movies over the years, but he somehow doesn't have a smartphone or a personal email address. During a 2020 interview, Nolan explained, "It's true that I don't have a smartphone. I have a little flip phone that I take with me from time to time. I'm easily distractible, so I don't really want to have access to the internet every time when I'm bored." And as for email, he said, "I just have never been particularly interested in communicating with people in that way. I prefer just calling people from a landline. So yeah, I mean, everybody finds their own way to communicate with people and deal with things."

More recently, the director discussed having other people print out emails so he could read them on paper. But he has admitted that not having a smartphone has become a little more inconvenient now that so many places require you to scan QR codes.

    14. Back in 2010, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian documented their first-ever ride on the New York City subway. And yes, they were already grown adults. The sisters were spending time in Manhattan while filming Kourtney and Kim Take New York, and decided to try it out. Kourtney immediately said, "Where do you even go?" and Kim replied, "I don't know. This is really scary." While riding the subway, Kim asked strangers, "Do you guys ever get scared on the subway?" and "Have you ever been robbed? Have you ever robbed anyone?"

    15. Megan Fox admitted in a 2007 interview that she was "horrible to live with" and that she doesn't clean. She further explained, "My clothes end up wherever I take them off. I forget to flush the toilet. Friends will tell me, 'Megan, you totally pinched a loaf in my toilet and didn't flush.'"

    16. During a 2012 interview, Barbra Streisand admitted that she can't cook, saying, "I mean, I would not know how to make coffee. Sort of boil an egg; maybe I could figure that one out." But weirdly enough, Barbra had actually taken cooking classes and learned how to make a chocolate soufflé before. She did clarify that she'd still much rather have somebody else prepare it so she could enjoy eating without having to deal with the cooking and cleaning.

    17. Hilary Duff admitted in a 2016 interview that she was reallyyyy bad at doing laundry. She explained, "I mean, I make sure I don't put in anything that needs to go to the dry cleaners in there, but yeah, I kinda just put it all in at once. And then I end up ruining things. But when I'm looking at it, I'm like, that’s not gonna do anything to that, and then I’m like, ‘No! How did this happen?’"

    18. And lastly, during a 2024 interview, Anna Kendrick admitted that she didn't know how to cook. She even said, "I really just don't know how to do anything useful in life." She talked about how she was a huge homebody and stated, "It's not a surprise to anybody that I'm kind of a lazybones, and so just convenience and ease is everything."
