Build the software that runs your business.

About us

Reflex helps companies build the software that runs their business. For decades, businesses have had to choose between generic SaaS that doesn’t fit how they work and expensive custom development that requires a large software team. AI has changed that equation. Reflex is the complete platform for building, deploying, and managing custom software. It brings together AI-powered development, company data integrations, secure deployment, and governance on one standardized stack. Your team can build and maintain software themselves, with Reflex providing the platform and support. Or our forward-deployed engineers can work alongside your team to identify and deliver high-value systems. Either way, every application is real, editable code that you control and can run in the cloud or fully on-premises. The result is software designed around your business: tools, workflows, portals, dashboards, and AI systems that help you move faster, reduce costs, and adopt AI without building a large internal software organization. Reflex is built on an open-source Python framework with nearly 30,000 GitHub stars and 400,000 monthly downloads, used by teams across 30% of the Fortune 500.

This week, smol machines hosted 3 events for SF TECH WEEK by a16z. On Monday, we co-hosted Agent Matcha Popup with Monid and TinyFish. Shengkun Y.'s team gives agents infinite possibilities through tools, while smol machines provides the flexible infrastructure agents run on. Tuesday, BinBin H. spoke on an open-source-focused panel alongside Alek Petuskey from Reflex and Ernest McCarter from General Translation. The discussion started with the origins of open-source projects, covered how open-source companies generate revenue, and concluded with the outlook for OSS in the AI age. Wednesday concluded with a panel that we hosted with Reflex and Byteport, where Jayram Palamadai, Mohamed Otefi, and BinBin took a deep dive into the infrastructure landscape and where industry gaps still lie. The open-source community and foundational work in infrastructure are the two most critical parts of smol machines. We are honored to be recognized as leaders in these fields and to partner with the best companies in the space to host events together.

We had a great time bringing together open-source builders at TECH WEEK by a16z, featuring Alek Petuskey from Reflex, BinBin H. from smol machines, and Ernest McCarter from General Translation. The conversation explored why developers choose to build in the open, how open-source communities grow, and what it takes to build a sustainable business around open source. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us, and to Reflex and General Translation for co-hosting this event! Watch the full panel here: https://lnkd.in/gSV7RyMX A few highlights from the conversation ↓

We’re hosting an open-source panel at our Reflex office, October 6th at 6pm! Open source has become the foundation of modern software, but there’s a huge difference between putting a repo on GitHub and building software that people use, contribute to, and embed into their projects. I wanted to bring together founders and maintainers who’ve gone through that journey firsthand. I’ll be joined by BinBin H., founder of smol machines , and Ernest McCarter, VP of Engineering at General Translation, both extremely skilled open-source developers. We’ll talk about: • why builders choose to open source their work in the first place  • how a project goes from a GitHub repo to an active community  • what turns users into contributors and advocates  • how maintainers balance community feedback with the direction of the project  • how to build a sustainable business around open source  • where the line between free OSS and paid products should sit  • how AI is changing the way open-source software is built and maintained  • what the future of open source might look like If you’re an open-source maintainer, founder, contributor, developer, or just thinking about releasing something of your own, we’d love to host you. The RSVP link is in the comments. Part of #SFTechWeek.

We released the most performant charting library, xy last month. It can render billions of points. Now it's available in Reflex Build. Connect a Postgres, MySQL, or MSSQL database and ask Build to create a chart. The agent reads the schema, writes the query, and adds the chart to your app. xy makes billion-point charts feel like normal charts. You can plot the full table and zoom into any range without downsampling it or waiting minutes. It's 523x faster than Plotly at 10M points, and capable of rendering 10B+ points. The generated chart is regular Reflex code. It can update State, drive other components in the app, and deploy with everything else. This is live now on build.reflex.dev

We’re making big improvements to the Reflex MCP. The next version will let Claude Code and Codex agents running locally connect directly to your Reflex workspace. Your agent will be able to list projects, use your team’s shared knowledge and themes, deploy apps, manage deployments, manage users, and more. So instead of only helping you write a Reflex app, your agent can work with the rest of the platform around it. You can ask it to find an existing project, make a change using your team’s context, and deploy it, all from your local agent. Very excited about this one.
