40+ custom beer bottles. One junkyard. A whole lot of sky. For Nashville artist Tim Dugger’s new single “Beer in the Sky,” we wove the artist’s story into every detail. Our team fabricated bottle labels with the song’s lyrics, littered across our set in the San Gabriel Mountains — connecting the story on the ground with the song’s sky-high energy. No matter how much thought goes into pre-production, there are unexpected elements to navigate on set. Our tub of foam and bubbles — the final flourish in a sequence shot for hospitality client, the LaFayette Hotel & Club — was filled without issue during testing, however, the foam machine gave out as soon as the cameras rolled. Rather than compromise the concept, we created photo-real CG suds that could be art-directed down to the millimeter. Bubbles were placed, timed, and popped to match the rhythm of the edit and the tone of the sound design. In the end, the blend of physical design and digital embellishment allowed the story a visual payoff — proving nothing at the LaFayette happens by accident, even the chaos is curated.
