Adriano Rutz, Swiss pharmaceutical scientist
Metabolomics, mass spectrometry, open science, and natural products — currently at the Institute for Molecular Systems Biology at ETH Zurich.
Adriano Rutz is a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich, where he develops computational and analytical methods for metabolomics. His research focuses on the chemistry of Life and the metabolites found in organisms. He trained in pharmaceutical sciences and phytochemistry, worked at Tradall SA (Bacardi Group), and completed his PhD at the University of Geneva.
His work uses mass spectrometry to determine which chemical compounds are present in a sample, and aims to make this knowledge open and reusable. He is a core contributor to the LOTUS initiative, and works across data science, chemistry, and biology. His computational work connects research data across systems using open principles, designing architectures that adapt smoothly across different tools and environments.
