Though it started as DVD-by-mail subscription service, Netflix has grown into one of the biggest streaming platforms around.

With a roster that has some of the most talked-about shows and movies — everybody wants Nobody Wants This and we’re still not over KPop Demon Hunters — and more dropping every day, including Oscar hopefuls like Possible Love, La Bola Negra, Ink and Ray Gunn, there’s never been a better time to be a Netflix subscriber.

However, streaming costs are rising and we understand looking to save a few bucks anywhere you can.

Did you know that, even without Netflix offering a free trial, you can get the streamer for free? Here’s how.

Is There a Netflix Free Trial?

No, unfortunately Netflix does not offer a free trial.

How Much is Netflix Monthly?

Netflix currently offers three subscription plans: standard with ads ($8.99/month), standard and premium.

Standard with ads allows you to stream ad-supported content on two devices at a time, offline download on two devices at a time, and stream in 1080P (Full HD). Standard is the same, just ad-free, but it does include more movies and TV shows as some titles are locked for Standard with ads subscribers.

Premium allows you to watch content in 4K (Ultra HD) + HDR on four supported devices at a time, download offline on six devices and gives the option to add up to two extra members who don’t live with you.

DIRECTV

DIRECTV is the latest provider to offer free Netflix to subscribers.

The deal, which launched in late August 2026 and ends on Nov. 17, will give you not one, not two, but 12 months of Netflix completely free.

It’s this easy: head over to DIRECTV and subscribe to any of their Genre Packs, including MyEntertainment, MySports and MyNews. From there, all you have to do is add a Gemini Device (streaming stick) to your genre pack. You’ll get a five-day free trial before payment kicks in and Netflix free for one year as long as you remain subscribed.

Verizon

Select Verizon mobile and home internet subscribers can get ad-supported tiers of HBO Max and Netflix bundled through its myPlan service for $13.99/month. It’s not technically free, but you’re still ending up saving monthly.

Xfinity’s StreamSaver plan is an affordable way to get both internet and a few streaming subscriptions all at once. You get 150 Mbps internet for one year with Peacock Premium with ads, Apple TV and Netflix Standard with ads for $45/month.
