First FFD Policy Dialogue Held on 29 September on National Coordination for FFD and Data Monitoring

National Focal Points participated in the first National Focal Point FFD Policy Dialogue on 29 September to exchange perspectives and experiences on how National Focal Points can support implementation of the Sevilla Commitment at the country level. The discussion explored challenges and practical approaches to coordinating across government ministries and institutions, including strengthening national ownership and monitoring progress.

With more than 100 participants, Focal Points shared concrete approaches to translating the Sevilla Commitment into implementation roadmaps, including national action plans and priority financing agendas. The dialogue highlighted different models for coordinating across government and engaging stakeholders, ranging from formal inter-ministerial networks to more flexible cross-government coordination channels and policy dialogue platforms bringing together government, civil society, academia, the private sector, and development partners. National Focal Points also exchanged experiences on monitoring progress, including both detailed results frameworks and lighter monitoring tools designed to minimize reporting burdens.

Network of NFP to engage on Sevilla Commitment implementation

The Secretariat will convene thematic policy dialogues on issues in the Sevilla Commitment to support peer learning and to bridge national practice and global discussions on financing for development. Their outputs will inform the 2027 Financing for Sustainable Development Report and the 2027 Financing for Development Forum.

For the 2026–2027 cycle, dialogues will focus on topics under the four Action Areas in-depth review in 2027: Domestic Public Resources; International Development Cooperation and Development Effectiveness; Debt and Debt Sustainability; and Science, Technology, Innovation and Capacity Building.

Network of National Focal Points on Financing for Development launched on 20 April 2026

The Network of National Focal Points (NFP) on Financing for Development was officially launched at a high-level event on Monday, 20 April 2026. The NFP Network brings together national champions and officials responsible for in-country follow-up on financing for development.

National Focal Points actively engaged in three dedicated sessions from 21 to 23 April, which identified modalities to translate the NFP’s core objectives -- peer‑to‑peer learning and bridging national action with global Financing for Development commitments -- into practical implementation. The NFP agreed to explore thematic issues in the Sevilla Commitment (linked to the topics under annual review), and to exchange information on national practice and global discussions via intersessional peer learning engagements, as well as at the annual FFD Forum.  In addition, the Secretariat will provide updates on key FFD milestones, along with monthly newsletters on FFD follow-up.

The sessions also provided an opportunity for NFPs to engage in substantive consultations with the UN Regional Economic Commissions on their potential role in supporting the Network at the regional level. NFPs also held exchanges with several UN entities - including DESA, DCO, UNCTAD, UNDP, UN Women, and OHRLLS - on existing capacity‑building programmes aimed at advancing national‑level implementation of the financing for development agenda.
