AI Skills Collection

A curated collection of specialized AI skills for WordPress development, content creation, marketing, and more. These skills follow the agentskills.io standard and work with Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI assistants.

What are AI Skills?

AI Skills are structured knowledge documents that provide AI assistants with deep, specialized expertise in specific domains. Instead of relying solely on training data, skills give AI models access to:

  • Current best practices and standards
  • Detailed implementation guides
  • Security and performance considerations
  • Real-world code examples and patterns
  • Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

Think of skills as expert reference manuals that AI can consult to provide more accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive assistance.

Why This Collection?

Most WordPress and web development happens through trial and error, outdated tutorials, or incomplete documentation. This collection provides AI assistants with authoritative, comprehensive knowledge to:

  • Generate secure, standards-compliant code
  • Follow official guidelines and best practices
  • Avoid common vulnerabilities and mistakes
  • Provide consistent, reliable guidance

All skills are based on official documentation, coding standards, and real-world professional experience.

Available Skills

WordPress Development

Security guidelines for WordPress plugin development: sanitization, validation, escaping in PHP and in admin JavaScript, nonces, capabilities over objects, multisite privilege boundaries, SQL injection, request headers and the client IP behind proxies, authentication shortcuts, registered meta exposed in REST, and secrets kept in the database. It also bundles a release security gate: a procedure and three scripts to run before every plugin release. Based on official WordPress Developer Resources and on post-incident reviews of CVE-2026-81754 and of the flaws found after it.

Key topics:

  • Input sanitization and validation, including what sanitize_text_field() silently removes from URLs, paths and slugs
  • Output escaping in PHP and in the JavaScript that builds HTML
  • Nonce implementation
  • Capabilities over objects, and multisite privilege boundaries
  • SQL injection prevention, and dynamic SQL that passes Plugin Check
  • AJAX and REST API security, including registered meta exposed in REST
  • Request data that must never decide: user agents, proxy headers and the client IP
  • Authentication shortcuts and second-factor flows
  • Secrets in copies, diffs and exports
  • PHPCS suppressions and the wordpress.org automated security review
  • File handling security
  • Common vulnerabilities (XSS, CSRF, SQLi)
  • Release security gate: depth by risk, mechanical checks, written analysis, cross-review, and a release note with figures

Includes reference files:

  • references/request-data-and-client-ip.md — Data chosen by the caller, a tested client IP resolver for sites behind proxies, cache keys, and second-factor flows
  • references/registered-meta-and-core-filters.md — Registered meta as a REST write endpoint, and the values core does not escape for you
  • references/secrets.md — How to keep a copy of a configuration file without storing its secrets
  • references/release-gate.md — The release security gate, step by step, with the commands to run

Includes scripts (run bash scripts/selftest.sh once before trusting them):

  • scripts/test-escapers.js — Fails when a JavaScript escaper that does not encode quotes is used inside an attribute
  • scripts/audit-suppressions.php — Lists suppressions of security and SQL sniffs by risk, and fails when any has no written justification
  • scripts/class-symbols.py — Fails when a class file uses a self:: or $this-> symbol it does not define, which php -l does not check

If you used version 1.2: its two-factor example labelled as correct was a bypass. It let a login complete without the code from any login form other than wp-login.php. The section "Security decisions must not rest on request data" now explains why and shows the shape without the shortcut.

Compatibility: WordPress 6.0+ / PHP 7.4+. The scripts need Node.js, PHP CLI and Python 3.

  • Prefixing rules and naming conventions
  • wordpress.org submission requirements and common rejection reasons
  • readme.txt structure and rules, with the limits measured against the real readme parser

How to Use These Skills

Several skills are more than one file: a main SKILL.md, reference files under references/ that the assistant opens only when it needs them, and, in the security skill, scripts under scripts/. Take the whole folder, not just SKILL.md.

With Claude (via Projects)

  1. Create a new Project in Claude
  2. Add the skill's SKILL.md to your project knowledge, together with the files of its references/ folder if it has one
  3. Claude will automatically reference the skill when relevant to your questions

With Claude Code

  1. Clone or download the skill folder to ~/.claude/skills/
  2. Claude Code will detect and use the skill automatically
  3. For multi-file skills, add the entire folder, so that Claude Code can open the reference files and run the scripts
  4. For the security skill, run bash scripts/selftest.sh once from its folder. It checks each script against a case it must flag and a case it must leave alone, and it needs Node.js, PHP CLI and Python 3

With ChatGPT (via Custom GPTs)

  1. Create a Custom GPT or edit an existing one
  2. Upload the skill markdown file(s) to the GPT's knowledge base, including the reference files
  3. The GPT will use the skill content to provide specialized assistance

The scripts of the security skill do not run inside a GPT. Run them yourself from a terminal, as described in references/release-gate.md.

With Other AI Assistants

Most modern AI assistants support knowledge documents:

  1. Look for "Knowledge Base", "Custom Instructions", or "Files" features
  2. Upload the skill markdown files
  3. Reference the skill in your prompts if needed

As Human Reference

All skills are written in clear markdown and serve as excellent reference documentation for developers and writers. You can:

  • Read them directly on GitHub
  • Download and use them as personal documentation
  • Reference specific sections when needed
  • Share them with your team

Skill Format

All skills follow the agentskills.io standard format with:

---
name: skill-name
description: "Brief description"
compatibility: "Version/platform requirements"
license: GPL-2.0-or-later
metadata:
  author: ayudawp
  version: "1.0"
---

Each skill includes:

  • When to use: Triggers and use cases
  • Core concepts: Fundamental principles
  • Functions/APIs: Detailed reference tables (for development skills)
  • Code examples: Real-world, copy-paste ready code (for development skills)
  • Best practices: Do's and don'ts
  • Checklists: Review and validation lists
  • References: Official documentation links

Some skills use a multi-file structure with a main SKILL.md, additional reference files in a references/ directory and, where a check can be automated, scripts in a scripts/ directory, following the agentskills.io progressive disclosure pattern.
