Description

Fixes #473

export * as foo from '...' introduces a namespace, but the generated declaration file declared it as:

declare global {
  const foo: typeof import('...').foo
}

This only exposes a value, so namespace usages in type positions fail:

type T = z.core.$ZodIssue
//       ^ Cannot find namespace 'z'.

Fix

Namespace exports are now re-exported, which keeps both the value and the namespace available:

declare global {
  export { foo } from '...'
}

scan-dirs marks these imports with namespace: true, and toTypeDeclarationItems emits a re-export instead of a const declaration.

Verification

  • test/dts.test.ts — new test covering the generated declaration
  • test/scan-dirs.test.ts — snapshot updated for the new namespace field
  • End-to-end: scanned export * as z from './inner' → generated export { z } from '<file>' → tsc accepts const a: z.ZodType = z.string() (previously TS2503)
  • Full suite: 244 passed, 11 pre-existing failures (Vue compiler snapshot differences, unrelated to this change)
  • tsc --noEmit and eslint clean

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Generated TypeScript declarations now preserve namespace re-exports, including aliases, so those names remain usable in type positions.

`export * as foo from '...'` introduces a namespace, but the generated
declaration file declared it as `const foo: typeof import('...').foo`.
That only exposes a value, so namespace usages such as `foo.Bar` in type
positions failed with `TS2503: Cannot find namespace 'foo'`.

Re-export the name instead, which keeps both the value and the namespace
available:

    declare global {
      export { foo } from '...'
    }

📝 Walkthrough

Export scanning now marks namespace re-exports. Declaration generation emits namespace aliases for marked imports, and tests check the generated declarations.

Changes: Namespace re-export declarations

Layer / File(s) Summary
Mark namespace re-exports
src/types.ts, src/node/scan-dirs.ts, test/scan-dirs.test.ts
Import gains an optional namespace flag. Export scanning sets the flag for namespace re-exports, and the scanner snapshot checks for it.
Emit namespace re-exports in declarations
src/utils.ts, test/dts.test.ts
Declaration generation emits top-level namespace imports and export import aliases for marked imports. Declaration tests check the generated output.

Comment thread src/utils.ts
…global`

`export { x } from '...'` is not permitted in a module augmentation
(TS2666), and suppressing that error with `@ts-ignore` leaves the
namespace unusable — consumers still fail with `TS2503: Cannot find
namespace`, so the re-export never actually worked.

Alias a top-level `import * as` instead, which is valid inside
`declare global` and exposes both the value and the namespace:

  export {}
  import * as __unimport_z from 'zod'
  declare global {
    export import z = __unimport_z
  }

Key namespace aliases by exported name.

When configured namespace imports share name but use different as aliases, dedupeImports keeps both imports. The declaration generator creates one top-level alias by name, so both exports can reference the first module.

Use as ?? name for the backing alias in both declaration paths.
