After doing a literature review of the validation component (see #5750 ), we have decided to start taking next steps towards deprecating it.

September 2026 consolidation

Consolidates the remaining decision in uswds/uswds-team#399 and release communication in uswds/uswds-team#398. Specify the supported versions, removal release/compatibility policy, and conditions for retirement. Coordinate concrete alternatives, rationale, and migration examples with uswds/uswds-site#2866. The live documentation says support ended after 3.12.0; an old approximate calendar estimate does not determine the removal version. Deliver notices through release notes and documentation rather than reviving the March/April 2025 call/newsletter campaign. This consolidation does not remove the component or mark its migration complete.
