solstone · a memory your agents can work from

a memory your agents can work from.

the solstone app takes in what you share with it, from your screen and your audio to the places you go and your terminal. all of it goes into your journal, on a computer you own, and the agents you choose work from it.

free and open source. your journal lives on an Apple silicon mac, a windows PC or a linux computer, and phones pair with it.

asked
What did Paris Duke ask for, and how did the versioning rule change during the week?
answered
Paris Duke from Ducal Freight asked for three things, and the versioning rule went from "both sides must approve every change" to "silence for 48 hours counts as approval."

the answer came from Claude Code, reading the demo journal on the same computer. this is the opening of its answer, as it came back.

how it works

a week in a demo journal: a row of days from sunday 27 to saturday 3, with a memory from monday to friday. the first reads: drafted the first 'Schema Bridge: draft 1' specification outlining core v1 inspection record schema fields including site identifiers, photos, findings, and signatures. each memory says it came from the next morning's briefing.
a demo journal's week, as journal 2.0.36 shows it: one memory from each day that has one, word for word from the next morning's briefing. everyone in it is invented. this demo's thinking ran on Google's gemini-3.5-flash; your own journal's thinking stays on your computer unless you choose otherwise.

what you get

  • the people and projects in your days

remembered across days, with the moments that connect them.

  • your meetings, transcribed

on your computer by default. once you confirm your voice, your journal names your own lines from then on.

  • a briefing each morning

your day ahead, written from your own material.

  • search across all of it

from the command line, or from your agents.

what your agents get

the agents you already use can work from your journal. you choose which ones.

  • on the same computer

a local connection for any agent that speaks MCP. on linux, your journal also adds a solstone skill for Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI.

  • on your wifi or VPN

pair an agent with a code from your journal's agents app.

  • from anywhere

through a tunnel of your own, or through solstone.me.

yours, by structure

your journal keeps the originals in open formats, in a folder on your own disk. you can back it up, hand it down, and take it anywhere.

sol pbc can't sell or license your data, even anonymized or aggregated, and can't use it for targeted advertising or behavioral profiling. that's written into our articles of incorporation, and it can't be amended without the personal signature of our founder, jer miller. after him, the language can only get stronger, never weaker.

there's no telemetry, no analytics vendor, and no behavioral tracking. on its own, solstone only reaches out to fetch its updates, models and tools, which leaves the same kind of logs as visiting any website. the privacy policy

open source

solstone is open source and free, all of it: the solstone app on every platform, your journal, and the connection between them, under the AGPL. solstone itself never asks you to sign in.

you don't have to take our word for any of it. read the code and build it yourself. trust.solstone.app walks through the signed records we publish, including the journal's releases on mac, windows and linux, and links back to the originals.

optional services

sol pbc runs a few services, if you want them. each one has a free way to do it yourself that we fully support, there's no lock-in, and you never have to pay us.

  • private network $20/yr

reach your journal from your phone, from anywhere.

or your own: your wifi, or your own VPN.

  • encrypted backup $48/yr

a copy of your journal, encrypted before it leaves, that only you can read.

or your own: any storage bucket you choose.

  • solstone.me $5/yr

an address for your journal, so an agent you already use can reach it.

or your own: a tunnel that only passes the bytes through.

  • confidential processing $96/yr

thinking off your device, on confidential hardware sol pbc runs, with no content retained.

or your own: a model on your computer, the default, or your own model.

early days. on a mac, on windows and on your phone, solstone installs like any app. on linux, setup takes a step in the terminal. expect a few rough edges, and tell us when you find one.
