2026 Brand Refresh Banner

After 25 years, APS is excited to introduce a refreshed logo and color palette for our society! This is a thoughtful evolution that honors the century-long history of APS, while positioning our society for the future.

Old APS Logo New APS Logo

You’ll recognize elements of our existing logo in this design but expressed in a more modern way. In addition to adding a new pop of color into the logo design, we’ve:

  • simplified the leaves to capture the essence of plant systems,

  • refined the typography, and

  • removed the enclosing circle to reflect a more open and globally-connected field with two arcs—one which takes in the world around us and one that gives back out to the community.

Together, these changes create a logo that is more adaptable, more forward-looking, and more aligned with where APS is headed, while still rooted in the science and community that has always defined us.

Here are some examples of updated APS logo variations across the society:

Color Palette Enhancement

Along with the logo update, we’ve expanded our color palette to incorporate a broader range of colors. We kept the dark green and blue that have become so central to the APS brand over the years, but made the light green a bit brighter. We also added additional complementary colors to expand our design and graphic capabilities.

These new colors will be visible in updated designs, emails, and on the website:

Timing of the Logo Rollout

Changes will start rolling out on our website on August 3. We will continue to make updates to digital and existing print materials over the coming months with the full rebrand completed by the end of 2026. While the previous logo will always have a place in our hearts, we’re excited by these changes and we hope you are too!

FAQ

Q: As an APS member and/or partner, what is required of me as part of this update? Is there anything I currently need to do?

The main thing you will notice is an update to the look of our website and communications. As this is a phased roll out, there is no need to get rid of any materials that contain the old APS logo.

Members will receive an updated APS digital member badge from BadgeCert, but Course Completion badges with the previous APS logo do not need to be replaced and can still be displayed proudly online.

If you are an APS partner that uses our logo, please contact us at [email protected].

Q: What about materials I’m using in my committee or community of interest that have the old logo on them?

We have done an audit of all existing branded material and have likely captured the needs of our volunteers and have a plan for updates.

  • You will receive updated digital materials in the near future. If you need updated materials and have not heard from us by August 31, please reach out to your staff liaison or contact [email protected].

  • If you plan to use printed materials with the previous APS logo on hand, please email [email protected]. Most materials are still ok to use, but it is best to check.

  • If you plan to create new print or digital materials that require an APS logo after August 1, please ensure you contact us and we can assist you in making updates to the new branding.

Q: How can I get more information on the logo and correct usage?

You can access the Visual Brand Guidelines on our website. Please contact [email protected] with your specific logo needs and we can send you the correct size and file format.
