Effective agentic AI deployment is the next step in building better transportation networks. Our Chief Technology Officer Val Marchevsky spoke at the Cross Industry AI Symposium in Chicago on what this approach looks like in practice at Uber Freight. He joined other enterprise leaders in discussing the opportunities and challenges of agentic AI. Val shared that success is about more than just choosing the right model —ensuring quality data, understanding workflows, and accounting for real-life exceptions are all tantamount in AI deployment. Thank you to NUTC - Northwestern University Transportation Center for leading this conversation.

In my recent conversation with Ian Putzger at The Loadstar, we discussed how transloading and through-trailer services can work together to give shippers greater flexibility, expanded capacity and keep freight moving. Transloading isn't a single solution, it's another tool in your toolbox. Thanks, Ian, for the conversation! #uberfreight #transload #throughtrailer
Pressures at the US's southern border, from rising volumes and diminished trucking capacity, are causing shippers to evaluate transloading. Americas correspondent Ian Putzger reports that this is turning from an emergency solution into a structural network element. Go to https://lnkd.in/eB5cc9w7 #UberFreight #CANCAR

After a volatile 2026, could the freight market see more stability in 2027? Despite expected peak-season tightening as capacity continues to recover, a few factors indicate there could be reduced volatility in the year ahead. 🚚 Surging sales for sleeper tractors (+64% YoY) and orders for trailers (+408.6% YoY), as well as stabilization of the driver market, point to potential capacity recovery after recent disruptions. 📈 Routing guides are also showing signs of stabilization as contract rates rise across all trailer types from 19% to 22% YoY. While uncertainty remains in Q4, shippers should continue to monitor these promising signals for the remainder of the year into 2027. Transportation management is evolving. Shippers need reliable execution today, but they also need to know what can work better tomorrow. Increasingly, they expect their transportation partner to identify solutions and turn those insights into action. At Uber Freight, we believe that evolution is toward Transportation Orchestration: connecting intelligence, logistics expertise and execution so customer networks can continuously improve. Our CPO Amir Pelleg shares what we’re building toward and how advances in AI are helping make it possible in FreightWaves: https://lnkd.in/eEqA6PeQ

Moving freight well isnt enough. Its table stakes. I spent much of my first 90 days at Uber Freight with customers and operators. Shippers expect reliability and cost efficiency. They should expect a lot more from a transportation partner. What truly sets a partner apart is spotting problems before they cost money, bringing proven ideas customers havent thought of yet, and actually making the change happen. Because we manage freight for many shippers, we can see opportunities no single shipper could find on its own. With AI, we find them faster, automate more of the action, and learn from every result. We call it Transportation Orchestration: networks that keep getting better. I put pen to paper on where were headed in FreightWaves: https://lnkd.in/gpf4D2eJ Shippers and carriers, I'd love to hear from you: where should transportation management providers raise the bar?

What makes autonomous trucking valuable to shippers? Olivia Hu, Uber Freight's Head of Autonomous Trucking and Electrification, joined Chris Caplice on the Freightvine podcast last week. She says for shippers to accept AVs, they need to be cost-effective, help maintain service performance, and be competitive with alternatives in transportation networks. “Let’s improve our Say-Do ratio.” That’s been our commitment since I joined Uber Freight a year ago. Say less, do more. Let our results speak for themselves. That’s why I waited over a year to do my first press interview. We’ve spent that time heads-down - becoming #CustomerObsessed, building the right team and making the changes needed to grow this business. And now, we’re seeing results. Revenue, transportation volume, customer count and the number of customers using multiple services have all grown - even through a challenging freight market. We have more work to do, but the momentum is real. So now we’ve earned the right to talk, just a bit 😄. Now, step two: building what's next. Hand-in-hand with our customers, we’re #RaisingtheBar on Managed Transportation. And, in my view, there is not a more exciting area to invest - using Uber-scale technology, deep transportation expertise, and our $18B in freight under management to build smarter transportation networks - networks that don't just run well today, but continuously and autonomously get better every single day. That’s the future we’re building with Transportation Orchestration. And to the Uber Freight team - thank you for getting in the arena, doing the hard things and delivering for our customers every day. This progress is yours. #WinAsOne. Thanks, Liz Young, for the conversation. https://lnkd.in/gJjMVqnA

In the Wall Street Journal this morning: CEO Rebecca Tinucci's interview with Liz Young about Uber Freight's return to growth and the changes driving our business forward. One of the clearest signs of progress? Customers are trusting us with more. Today, 30% of our customers use two or more Uber Freight services, up from 24% a year ago. And we've added twice as many new Managed Transportation customers so far this year as we did in all of 2025. We're building on that momentum, with a clear focus on helping customers simplify and improve their transportation networks. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/ehW6Habe?

"3PL & 4PL: How to Combine for the Best Logistics Outsourcing Model" [Gartner] walks through how supply chain leaders are building outsourcing strategies that don't force a tradeoff between execution and oversight. Our take: the best version of this model isn't two partners coordinating. It's one partner accountable for both. That's what we've built.
