The terms and conditions set out below describe how Guardian News & Media Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) makes available the Guardian Ad-Lite subscription.
By agreeing to pay for a Guardian Ad-Lite subscription, you agree to comply with these terms and conditions and the Guardian Terms of Service, which apply to the use of the Guardian website, Guardian apps and our digital information network generally.
1. What is Guardian Ad-Lite?
The Guardian Ad-Lite subscription allows you to read the Guardian website without personalised advertising (except for when we host third party content, like videos). You will still see advertising on the Guardian website but it will not be personalised to you. You may also still see personalised adverts on third party hosted content, such as videos, on the Guardian website.
You may also still see “Paid content/Paid for by” content on the Guardian site. “Paid content/paid for by” is used to describe advertisement features that are paid for and controlled by the advertiser, rather than the Guardian, where these are not personalised to you. This content is produced by the advertiser and the advertiser is solely responsible for this content.
We accept no responsibility for third party advertising or “Paid content/Paid for by” content, including, without limitation, any error, omission or inaccuracy therein.
The Guardian Ad-Lite subscription is separate to the Guardian Live App subscription and any other subscriptions or arrangements you may have with us. Readers with valid ad-free subscriptions should sign in to read the Guardian without advertising.
2. How can I buy Guardian Ad-Lite?
You can buy a Guardian Ad-Lite subscription by creating a Guardian account and completing the checkout process here. You will need to sign in to your Guardian account to enjoy the benefits of your Guardian Ad Lite subscription across all your devices or browsers.
By submitting our online form, you are making an offer to sign up to Guardian Ad-Lite. If we accept your offer, we will send you confirmation by email and it will then constitute a binding contract. Nothing else that we do or say will amount to any acceptance of that offer.
Your first payment will be taken on day 15 after signing up but you will start to receive your Guardian Ad-Lite benefits when you sign up. Unless you cancel, subsequent monthly payments will automatically be taken on this date using your chosen payment method.
Your monthly subscription payments include any applicable sales taxes.
Your subscription is personal to you and non-transferable.
3. Subscription renewals
Automatic Renewal: unless you cancel, your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription will automatically renew on these terms each month and we will charge your chosen payment account for the renewed Guardian Ad-Lite subscription.
You can cancel your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription at any time before your next renewal date.
4. Changes to your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription
We reserve the right to change from time to time the monthly subscription price.
If we change the monthly subscription price, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice in advance of this change (or such other length of notice as is required by the Direct Debit guarantee from time to time). You will need to pay this new price to continue receiving the Guardian Ad-Lite subscription. Any change to the price will apply from your next billing cycle.
If we change the monthly price, we will give you this advance notice so that you can choose whether or not to cancel your subscription.
If you are unhappy with the changes, you will need to cancel your subscription, before the changes take effect. If you don’t do so, you will only be able to cancel your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription in accordance with section 5.
You will continue to receive your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription until you cancel your payments or your Direct Debit (as applicable).
We also reserve the right to withdraw the Guardian Ad-Lite subscription at any time. In such cases, you may be entitled to a pro-rata refund of the subscription price already paid for the remaining subscription period.
5. How to cancel your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription
To cancel go to Manage My Account or complete this form.
Cancellation within the first 14 days: If you cancel your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription within 14 days of signing up, your subscription will stop immediately and we will not take the first payment from you.
If you are based in the UK or in the European Union, you have a legal right to cancel your subscription in the first 14 days after you enter into this contract. However, the cancellation right we offer is more generous than this legal right.
Cancellation after the first 14 days: Cancellation of your subscription at any time after the first 14 days will take effect at the end of your current monthly payment period. You will not receive your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription after this time. You will also not receive any refund for cancelling your subscription.
We may cancel your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription immediately if we do not receive a payment when due from you, or if we are unable to provide you with your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription. If we are unable to provide you with your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription, you will be entitled to a pro-rata refund of the subscription price already paid for the remaining subscription period. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before your Guardian subscription is cancelled in this way.
6. Privacy
You can read our privacy policy and our cookie policy for details of how we use your personal information.

In all other events, our total liability to you however arising in connection with your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription will not exceed twelve (12) times the monthly amount you pay.
You may have statutory consumer rights that apply to your Guardian Ad-Lite subscription which cannot be limited, excluded or modified. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits, excludes or modifies any such consumer rights.
